Guilaine Jeanpierre - Private History

  • Le Neuf Gallery 690 Chaussée de Waterloo 1180 Brussels Belgium (map)

When I discovered Guilaine's work for the first time, I was fascinated by the colours and the way she uses what seems to be a naive style to tell stories of all times with a lot of wits and funny details. Although seeming to be realistic, her characters' shapes and features are slightly distorted or androgynous, distilling an unreal and puzzling feeling, though undoubtedly very pleasant.

Guilaine tends to always look for grace and softness whether in the faces or in the colours, as to give an old-finished touch. You will not forget to pay attention to the attitudes of the characters: the position of the hands, the bodies, the glances exchanged and the hidden intentions...

This young but promising artist mainly works with gouache and watercolour on paper, we will show you a selection of 14 of them until the 26th of February. Prices vary between 375 and 725 euros for the bigger formats.
