Aurélia Naccache

Aurélia Naccache was born in Paris in 1966 and lives in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine).

Raised in a family of artists, she began performing on stage at the age of ten (Cosette in Les Misérables alongside Jean Marais) before specialising in dubbing.

Between the ages of seventeen and twenty-four, in addition to her work as an actress, she studied art history, posed regularly for the painter François-Marie Anthonioz and trained in drawing at numerous live model workshops in the city of Paris. She also took part in various training courses (ancient painting techniques with M. Pincas at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and engraving at the École Duperré). In 2006, she joined the studio of the painter and engraver Istvan Peto and perfected her skills in photography at the Beaux-Arts de Rueil-Malmaison.

For a few years now, painting has been her focus. She works with acrylics and oils and practices engraving (monotype, etching, dry point and woodcut).

She is particularly inspired by the human figure, the body, women and their representation in art. Her figures, often placed in front of the observer to confront his point of view, are sometimes lost in contemplation, sleep or desire, or suggest a movement, a gesture in suspense. The composition of the space is achieved through the use of colour, which stabilises the construction and, in contrast, gives a character to the human figure. Through the interplay of modelling and transparency, of the complete and the incomplete, the bodies create a fusion of perception and imagination.

The human figure is very present in her painting, but the question of figuration does not arise. In fact, today figuration is no longer opposed to abstraction, painting is above all a commitment, a commitment of the mind but also of the body.
